Over the last six years, I’ve really been getting into the science of manifesting. Because it is a science! Manifesting has everything to do with neuroplasticity, neuroscience, and epigenetics. There’s a reason I created my dream life when I left my tech job. And there’s one specific method of manifesting that always works for me, so I’m going to share it with you today.
It’s called the BFF method, and it’s called the BFF method because this manifestation method is about to be your best friend forever. Using this method in your daily life is going to teach you how to be the creator of your life rather than feeling like life is happening to you instead of with you.
In this week’s episode, we’re taking control of our lives with the BFF method. I’m going to share real-life examples of how I’ve used the BFF methods to manifest some of the most amazing moments in my career. And if I can do it, you can do it too!

Erika: Hello. Hello. Welcome back to this week’s episode of Chingona Revolution podcast. This is your host, Erika Cruz, and today I have a solo episode for you all about manifestation. So I’ve talked about manifestation on the podcast before, but most recently. I attended a conference in Washington DC Emancipation, which is a conference for women of color coaches.
It is hosted by Dielle Sharan. I’ve been in D’S Mastermind a few times. I’m currently in it right now, and she asked me if I could lead a manifestation workshop and I had 30 minutes. So because I had 30 minutes, I knew that I needed to simplify my magnetic method framework, which is something I teach my mastermind and I needed to make it.[00:02:00]
Easy to digest. I needed it to be something that people could remember even after the 30 minutes, right? Something that people could actually remember. And research shows that the brain can really only work in threes. It can really only remember threes. So I knew I wanted it to be a three step framework.
I wanted it to be something that I could cover. In the time that I had, which was only 30 minutes, and I also wanted to do some storytelling. So the purpose of this podcast episode is to share that framework with you. I have tested the framework across many previous manifestations, and it checks out every single time.
So before I created this framework. For emancipation, and this was before I attended an event for Joe Dispenza. So before I get into my story and the framework, let me just give you all a quick update. So I am recording this and I just got back yesterday after. Um, I was gone for about two and a half weeks, [00:03:00] and that trip was such a transformational trip.
So it started off by going to Washington DC where I attended the Emancipation Conference, where I held the manifestation workshop that I am going to take you through today in this episode. From there, so the workshop, I flew into DC Thursday, I attended the conference Friday and Saturday. Saturday morning was the workshop.
And then Sunday morning at 8:00 AM I left Washington DC and went to Cancun. In Cancun. I attended a seven day advanced retreat for Joe Dispenza. I. I absolutely love Joe Dispenser’s work. He is really making, um, he’s really demystifying spirituality. He’s really bringing science to explain what spirituality is.
And I’ve always been into, well, not always in the last six years or so, I’ve really been into law of attraction. I’ve really been into manifestation and while he does [00:04:00] not call his work manifestation work or anything like that, it really is work that helps you be the creator of your own life. But he leverages, um, the quantum field.
He leverages, um, neuroplasticity, neuroscience, epigenetics, like all of these different lines of science to really ground the work, ground the spiritual work. And that was my intention behind going to the event. Never did I expect to have. As much of a life changing experience at the event like I did, but I’ll have to do a separate podcast episode on that.
But the reason I’m bringing this up is because I created this framework before going to the Joe Dispenza event, and while I was at the Joe Dispenza event learning everything I learned, I was checking the framework. I was like, okay, how does this fit into my framework? And I’m really happy to report that I did not.
Have to go and change anything about the framework. If anything, I’m like, oh, I can further explain my framework even better after learning about Joe Dispenza’s work. So after Joda [00:05:00] Fed’s event, which was seven days, I flew to Mexico City on Sunday night. So the following Sunday night, and then on Monday at noon, I had a photo shoot in Mexico City.
My friend Liz was there. It was amazing. And then the next day was my coaching day. So I was super busy. And then Wednesday was kind of the day when we got to go do a bunch of stuff. Honestly, I don’t know how we fit so much into three days. And then I flew back home the next morning, very early at 7:00 AM So last night was the first night in two weeks that I have slept.
Eight hours and I am finally starting to feel a little bit like myself. It was definitely a period of time when it was like, go, go, go. So that is my quick update. I don’t normally update you all like this, but um, I think the context was important. So with that being said, let’s get into the episode for today, which was what I covered during this workshop.
So I’ll never forget. [00:06:00] On January 23rd, it was a Sunday of 2022, I was walking my dog Paloma on this trail that is about 20 minutes away.
I absolutely love this trail. It is full of nature and it’s where I can go with Paloma and I can take her off leash, and it’s a place that has become sacred for me. And I remember on this particular morning, it was January, so it was a little colder and I was wearing my cozy little layers, but I was comfortable.
And it was a little breezy and a little bit of fog, so it was, it was almost a little mystical, right, to walk in nature with a little bit of fog. But I remember being in this state of immense gratitude. I had just gotten out of a pretty toxic relationship that had kind of been on and off. It was pretty go to codependent.
I mean, I can say these things in retrospect, and we. I was finally on the other side of that breakup. You know, whenever you go through a breakup and it feels like, damn, am I [00:07:00] ever going to meet anyone else? Am I ever going to get to the other side of this? But suddenly there comes a time when you start to feel hopeful, and I was in that moment when I was really starting to feel.
Hopeful, starting to feel like, okay, no, I made the right decision. Okay, I’ve got my own back. Okay, I can do this. And I was also feeling a tremendous amount of gratitude for my business at this MO point. I had cultivated some really good friendships, and even though I wasn’t, you know, making a ton of money, I was, I had money coming in.
I was just feeling very, very grateful. And suddenly my phone buzzes. And it buzzes us as I was getting closer to the car. So we were almost wrapping up the trail, Paloma and I Paloma’s my dog. I think I already said that. So Paloma and I were wrapping up the trail almost by the car. And then my, I hear, I feel the vibration in my pocket and I grab my phone, I pull it out, and it’s a message that I received on LinkedIn.
Now, I’m not huge on LinkedIn. I don’t spend a lot of time on LinkedIn, but the message was from [00:08:00] somebody that I used to work. With at the last tech company that I worked at before, I went off on my own and became an entrepreneur, and the message said, Hey Erica, I just wanted to reach out and say congratulations on the New York Times feature.
It seems like everything’s going really great for you. We’re all really happy for you. And I was like, what? I was so confused with what he was talking about. So I quickly went to Safari on my phone. I went to the, the, the web search, and I was like, Erica Cruz, New York time. And I just typed that into Google.
And what I saw completely blew me away. So while I knew that I had been interviewed for the New York Times, and while I knew that I had met with a photographer and we had taken some photos, never did I expect to see mine and my good friend Kat’s face on the front page of the Sunday Business, New York Times.
I mean, it [00:09:00] literally takes up. Like a whole sheet on the New York Times, and this is the print version. I mean something they don’t tell you whenever they feature your stuff is, or whenever, like you talk to, to reporters, they never tell you when something’s going to be released and how it’s going to be released.
I didn’t even know what they were going to talk about. I was like, for all I know they could be sitting here talking badly about me. I was almost hesitant about doing the interview. The reason that I share this moment is because that was a major manifestation in my life, and obviously this one’s a beautiful one that I had the opportunity to share with my friend Kat, as well as another, um, entrepreneur friend named Tiffany.
And I reached out to as many people as I could because this article was all about leaving our job during the great resignation. And I knew a lot of people who had left their job during the great resignation. So this is. An example of some manifestation that feels like it wouldn’t be real, but it happened, [00:10:00] and this isn’t the only one.
Another one happened in 2021 around Hispanic Heritage Month when I interviewed Luis Fci on TikTok live. Yes. The guy who sings, I legit interviewed him. I didn’t even have a podcast at the time. I was still working in the tech job and I was doing this thing on the side, and I just got lucky where well, kind of, I don’t wanna say that I got lucky.
I used the method I’m going to. Teach you today. But I showed up, I did the work. I was feeling worthy, I was feeling really grateful for everything I had done. And then I received an email asking me if I would be interested in interviewing Luis fci. And of course I said yes, but honestly, I didn’t believe it until it actually happened.
And there’s so many other things that I’ve manifested, for example. Spotify has been on my vision board since 2020, but Spotify’s been on my vision board because I want it to be featured on a specific podcast. But just last month, I completed my first brand [00:11:00] deal in Spanish. With Spotify and while I was in Mexico, I saw my own ad, which I thought was so freaking cool when I was in Mexico for, um, the Cancun event that I just literally got back from yesterday.
Yeah, I was literally in Mexico yesterday morning. So how crazy is that? So how in the world has Erica manifested these things? Yeah, we can say that. Yeah. I just got lucky or, you know, some of my friends actually do call me a master manifester, but. I think we all have this ability and we are all manifesting all the time.
And there is, there’s an art to this, there’s a science to it, and that is what I’m going to teach you today. So this is an episode that you might wanna grab a pen and a paper for, or if you wanna note this down on your phone or just take a screenshot of this podcast episode so that you can remember to come back to it.
So let’s get into. Method. Let’s get in. Get into how it is that you can manifest the things that you wanna manifest in your [00:12:00] life. So the method is called the BFF Method, and the reason it’s called the BFF method is because this is going to be the method that is your best friend forever, because it is what’s going to teach you how to be the creator of your life rather than feeling like you’re on the receiving end and like life is happening to you.
Also, I know you are not going to forget the words B, F, F. So let’s go ahead and start off with B. What does B stand for? B stands for belief. So here’s what I want you to know, my friends, if you take anything away from this podcast episode, may it be this. We do not manifest what we want. We manifest what we believe we are worthy of.
So the first step in manifestation is to check your beliefs. Is there anything that is holding you back from believing that you can have the thing that you desire? Whether you desire the dream partner, do you feel worthy of the love? Do you believe your dream partner [00:13:00] exists? Or let’s say you want to manifest a million dollars.
Do you feel worthy of managing a million dollars? Do you feel worthy of receiving a million dollars? Do you, you believe it’s even possible? For you to receive a million dollars? Are you looking to manifest your dream job well? Do you believe that that dream job exists? Do you believe that you are worthy of that dream job?
So this first step is all around belief. Belief in yourself. Believing that it’s possible. Believing it’s possible for you, and allowing yourself to actually receive what you feel worthy of. So I’m gonna give you all an example from just clients, right? When it comes to, to belief. So. I have one client who is a coach and she is having a hard time with, um, getting paid clients and.
She has had an easy time getting complimentary clients and what I told her was that there wasn’t a problem with her marketing. There was a problem [00:14:00] with her belief. She didn’t believe that she was worthy of charging, and I know this because it was easy for her to get her complimentary clients. She has belief in her ability to be a coach because or else she wouldn’t be helping these free clients.
There’s something there around money mindset. Around not feeling worthy of charging for her services, and that’s where the work is. I also have another client who had been looking for the dream partner, and yes, some people would come along and she would date and whatnot, but at the core, she didn’t believe that she was worthy of.
Somebody who was going to be financially stable, somebody who was going to treat her right, somebody who was going to essentially meet her expectations. She felt like she needed to settle, and the work there is on the belief. So I want you to really think about what it is that you wanna manifest. And if you did grab that pen and paper, um, or if you grabbed your phone to, to take notes.
Rem remember that B, F, F, the F, the B, and B, F, [00:15:00] F stands for belief. So maybe at the top of the page, write down the thing you wanna manifest, right? Whether it’s the dream job, the dream partner, um, money opportunities, things like that. So like, let’s say you want to manifest brand deals. Well, do you believe that you’re worthy of a brand deal?
Do you think you are a good content creator? Do you, do you have a hard time being authentic and showing up online? Ask yourself these different questions. So at the top of the page, write down your manifestation and then write down B and write down belief. And then ask yourself, do I have any beliefs that are holding me back from achieving this manifestation?
And you just want to be honest with yourself here because. You can ignore this, but then you’re going to again, only manifest the things that you feel worthy of, not the things you feel unworthy of. And unfortunately for women, we’ve been conditioned to, to believe we’re not worthy or that we need to settle or that we, we shouldn’t have high expectations.
And I want you to have very high expectations [00:16:00] for your manifestations because guess what? Friends? With the New York Times feature, I did not even think that this was a possibility, but my expectations were like, oh yeah, of course, amazing things were happening at the time when this happened. I had a full belief in myself.
I had already put in my notice at my job. I was going all in on my business. I decided that I was going all in on my business, and this was one of the first things that happened after that decision. All right, so the second letter in the B FFF method is f. So four, remember, B is belief. The next F is Forget reality.
So hear me when I say this.
What is currently happening in your life right now is a reflection of your previous thoughts, of your previous feelings, and of your previous actions. So the reality that you are living right now is a manifestation from the past, not a [00:17:00] manifestation with what’s happening at this moment. And if we are looking to manifest something new in our lives, then we cannot look to our reality at this moment for evidence that the future is possible.
It’s almost like when I decided to leave my job. At that moment, I had no guarantee that my business was going to make enough money to sustain me, and if I was waiting until that happened, I would’ve delayed leaving my job for a lot longer. This, I’m, I’m also not saying, Hey, just like, you know, make a decision and put yourself in a risky situation.
I had money saved, right? Like my, my situation was, it was planned out, but it did require some risk. But let’s say the my clients who want to become coaches, well, they, they say that to themselves, okay, I can’t call myself a coach until I’ve already had paid clients. And it’s like, no friends, you, you can’t have paid clients until you call yourself a coach.
So in other words, you have to [00:18:00] forget reality, and you have to forget what’s happening in this moment, because what’s happening in this moment is not a reflection of what’s gonna happen in the future. Remember, if you wanna manifest something, that means you want change and you want something different.
So of course you’re not going to see that reflected in your reality at this moment. One of the things that Joe Dispenza said at his event is that in order to change, we have to
Overcome our environment. Like we have to overcome what is at this moment. We have to overcome our past thinking. We have to literally overcome ourselves and become somebody different because we do not see things as they are. We see things as we are. So this is relevant to both be and F, right? Be for belief.
We don’t see things as they are. We see things as we are. So if you don’t have belief in yourself, you’re not going to think your manifestation is even possible. Then with the second one or 0.2, which is F forget reality. If you’re looking at reality for evidence of what’s [00:19:00] possible, how are you ever going to create something new?
So you literally have to forget what is. And there’s been many times in your life when you have created massive change, when maybe you were in one situation and then you weren’t. Right. You. At some point, like let’s say you went to college or went to high school. You started off high school with not having a degree and then you ended with a degree.
Change is totally possible for you. You have evidence of this. If you’ve ever gone through a breakup, you’ve recovered you. You have evidence of creating new things in your life. But if you are very. Passionate about this manifestation that you wrote down at the top of your page or maybe that you just brought to your mind.
If you’re really passionate about it, then a lot of times we clinging on to wanting it to happen right away and wanting to control the way that it happens. But again, B is belief. Checking your belief. The next one is forget reality. So what I want you to do on your page, [00:20:00] if you’re taking the notes, write down what’s currently happening and the story you’re telling yourself about what’s currently happening, and then.
I want you to literally just cross it off because we wanna forget reality. So that’s the story you’re telling yourself. But remember, we are creating a new reality, so stop focusing on what is at this moment. The last F for the BFF method is focus, and this one’s kind of the the biggest one. Okay, so the last F is focus on what and why.
Focus on what you want and why you want it. How it feels to have it.
So let’s say that you are looking to manifest your dream partner. So what is it that you want? You want the dream partner. Okay, great. Why do you want the dream partner? Well, you want somebody that you can travel with. You want somebody who’s going to be a companion, somebody that you can build with. So maybe somebody you can start a family with, you want to feel loved and whatnot.
And then how does it [00:21:00] feel to have this Well. It feels like peace. It feels like love, it feels like abundance. Maybe it feels like gratitude. And the thing is friends, that the, the brain and the body don’t know the difference between something that’s actually happening or something that you’re imagining.
And I’ll give you a perfect example. You know, when you’re really upset. About a situation. And then you tell your friend about the situation. And as soon as you start think thinking and talking about it and expressing yourself about that situation, your body reacts as if you were back in there. You’re all of a sudden your palms are sweaty, or maybe your heart starts racing, or maybe you just get upset.
And that is a perfect example of how our brain doesn’t know the difference between something that is imagined and something that is actually happening. And while we can use it many times in a way that’s not very productive. With the BFF method, you could use it in a way that’s very productive. So if you are already feeling the feelings of the partner or the dream job [00:22:00] or the money, then you’re more likely to attract it to you because we can’t attract things to us that we feel separate from.
If you feel lack, you’re gonna keep pushing that thing away, but when you already feel like you are love abundance. Whatever feeling you’re going to feel, then you are more likely to attract it into your life much faster. So again, f the last F is for focus and it’s focus on what, why and how it feels to have it.
But I want you to forget the how. Forget how it’s going to come to you, forget how it’s going to happen. So let’s keep using this partner, right? Let’s keep using the, the example of the partner. Let’s say you wanna manifest a partner. So you know you want to manifest somebody who is, um, into self-development like you are.
Maybe somebody who’s attentive, who’s nice, who’s fun and adventurous, but don’t. Focus on how it’s gonna happen because that’s the [00:23:00] magic of manifestation. I did not, I did not expect the New York Times feature to come out and be the front page. It turned out better than I could have ever imagined. If I had been trying to control how it was going to happen, it probably wouldn’t have even happened, or even the Luis Fci thing.
I wasn’t controlling how that was going to happen. It was not even on my vision board to, to interview him. But honestly, it’s been the biggest interview I’ve ever done and I have a, I’ve had a podcast for three years at this point, and I’ve never interviewed such a massive guest like I like Luis Cy, and that one came to me.
I. Out of nowhere. So for this dream partner, don’t be focused on, oh, he has to look this way. He has to have these specific characteristics. Be more general, okay, what is it that I really want? How do I wanna feel with this person? Why do I want this person? And then allow the how to just happen. Because you don’t know.
You don’t know if it’s going to happen through a swipe on an app or through a [00:24:00] grocery shopping or at a bookstore, or. Through mutual friends or maybe sliding somebody sliding into your dms, right? There can be so many ways in which this happens. And my good friend Liz, who I was just with in Mexico City, she actually ended up meeting her.
Now husband, I was at their wedding just a few months ago. She met her now husband when we were on a girl’s trip in Mexico City and we were on this trip and she was healing from heartbreak. She had a really, really tough heartbreak and ended up, I convinced her to download Bumble because I was like, you know what?
You’re gonna leave anyways. You’re not gonna meet anybody. And you know, it’ll just kind of take your mind off things. It’ll just show you that there’s a lot of options out there. Why not? Like, let’s just have fun. So we were at the Four Seasons in Mexico City having a cocktail because at the time I would, I still drink alcohol and it was her, Mariella and myself, and she ended up swiping right on one person and now they’re married.
Right. And they didn’t even meet on [00:25:00] that trip. So the reason that this. Manifestation worked for her is because she wasn’t even really looking. She wasn’t trying to control how it was going to happen. She wasn’t even looking for a partner. She was like, you know what, I’m just gonna focus on myself. So she was like in this belief that she was worthy of love and she was gonna give herself that love.
And then she also was forgetting reality. She was just like, forget this. Like, forget what has happened. I’m just gonna focus on, on like loving myself. And then. But she knew that if she ever had a partner, she wanted somebody who was going to be. A good person, somebody who was going to consider her needs, somebody who’s going to be attentive.
Everything she wasn’t receiving in the previous relationship. And she was so not trying to control how it was going to happen or when it was going to happen. She let it happen. And next thing we know, she ends up meeting her now husband. So she gave me consent to share this, um, during the workshop, [00:26:00] so I’m not just sharing people’s businesses.
Let’s go through a couple more examples. Let’s say that you are looking to manifest money, but maybe you have a belief that you are not good with money or that. Money comes in, money just like keeps going outta the window. Maybe you think it’s normal to live paycheck to paycheck, or maybe like my client who feels a little icky taking people’s money for her services.
These are all beliefs that can block you from manifesting money. Then let’s say that you’re currently in debt. Well, next step is to forget reality. Forget your current situation because yes, even though you are in debt at this moment, if you keep focusing on the debt, where our attention goes, energy flows.
So if you keep pointing your attention to your debt, you’re only going to create more debt because that’s where your focus is, and you’re not, you’re not even seeing. Other possible opportunities that exist. Right. The reason that we wanna forget reality is because a lot of times we go tunnel [00:27:00] vision on our problems and on the thing that we don’t want to happen.
And by going tunnel vision on it, we end up creating. More of it. So creating more debt, creating more, um, more lack from not having your partner. Okay, so we’re gonna keep going with the money example. So focus on what, why, and how it feels. So let’s say you wanna manifest money. Well, what do you want? You want money.
Why do you want it? You want it so that you can pay off your debt. You want it so that you can take. Your loved one’s on a trip. You want it so that you can start building wealth. You want it so that you can start to retire whatever your reasons are. And how does it feel? Well, it feels abundant and it feels like gratitude and it feels like I.
Freedom, right? It feels these are all the core feelings that you have, but the thing is, you don’t have to wait for the money to come to feel these emotions. You can have yourself. You can really feel these emotions now, and that is the fastest way to allow your [00:28:00] manifestations to come to you. Notice I didn’t say we’re focused on how it’s gonna happen.
Or by when it’s going to happen. That’s another thing. Whenever we focus on when is it going to happen and we add timelines to things, we almost keep pushing things out. Let’s say that you want to manifest a new job, okay? So you have to believe that you are worthy and that you are qualified to perform a new job.
You have to believe that there are jobs out there, and that the job you’re looking for does exist rather than, oh, it’s so hard in the job market right now. Those beliefs are gonna keep you in that reality, which is, oh, it’s so hard in the job market right now. Oh man, the economy’s so bad right now. Those thoughts, that’s what I mean about belief.
You have to be conscious of your beliefs around the things that you want to manifest. The next thing is you have to forget reality. If you’re in a job that you absolutely hate and you wanna manifest a new job, you can’t be focused on the job you hate. [00:29:00] You have to be focused on the job that you are manifesting and that you are calling in.
You have to be focused on the possibility of there being more jobs rather than being tunnel vision into your existing job. It’s so much easier said than done when it comes to doing this, because when we have a problem Yeah, we’re, we’re conditioned to focus on the problem, and what I’m telling you to do is to do the complete opposite.
The third thing for manifesting your dream job is we want you to focus on what, what do you want? You want a job that’s flexible. You want a job that pays you more. Maybe you want a job that, um, allows you to kind of travel the world and live this nomadic life. Why do you want it? Well, that’s going to give you a big sense of freedom, of fulfillment, of bliss, maybe joy.
How does it feel to have it? Okay, well, I think I kind of answered that already, right? So how it feels, it feels like freedom. It feels like adventure. It feels like growth. And how can we forget about the, how well allow the job to [00:30:00] come to you? In a way that is going to surprise you, right? Sometimes, maybe that is from a previous employer that has a new job opening or maybe something you’ve applied to months ago, or maybe somebody that you run into at a conference or maybe an old friend.
Allow the how to surprise you. Allow it to happen in a way where it feels like a surprise, right? Because if we already knew what was going to happen, then. What’s the point of living? Honestly, if we all already knew what was going to happen. Yet on the flip side, we’re all over here trying to figure out what’s next and have certainty.
It’s the funniest, um, kind of like conflict, right? We wanna know, but if we already knew, then what’s the point of living? If we already knew everything that was going to happen in our lives, we wouldn’t find excitement in life. Like the, the fact that things are uncertain. Makes it exciting. And then because nothing is certain, that means anything is actually possible.
So how can you look at the [00:31:00] fact you don’t know what’s gonna happen next as a wonderful, wonderful thing? And that’s a big topic that we covered at the, at the Joe Dispenza event, feeling falling in love with the unknown because change happens in the unknown. Change doesn’t happen in the known.
Let’s say you wanna manifest a speaking engagement. You have to believe that you know what you’re doing and that you’re worthy enough to go stand that stage. You have to forget the fact that you haven’t booked a speaking engagement yet.
And then you need to focus on what you want. You want the speaking engagement. Why do you want it? Well, because you want to make money through speaking and you wanna impact people’s lives. And how does it feel? Well, it feels like impact. It feels like purpose. It feels like joy. And forget how it’s going to happen.
So in summary, the BFF method helps you check if your manifestations have not happened. Let’s say you’ve been working towards something, do a check on all of them. How are your beliefs?
