Chingona Revolution is hosted by Erika Cruz, a rebel who left a 6-figure tech job to pursue her own unconventional path to success by following her passion that led to her purpose. Every week, Erika will bring out of you that BADASS LATINA through her experiences to overcome self-doubt and family expectations and lead with COURAGE.
This week, Erika is joined by a very special guest. Friend, colleague, student, and cousin Brenda. Join them as they discuss how they have overcome self-doubt both in school and workplace settings, why it’s so important to trust yourself, and what’s going on with Brenda’s hot tea!
Brenda is a first-generation, Mexican American, community college counselor. Her personal experiences within education influenced her passion for pursuing a career that enables her to empower other first-generation college students to reach their full potential. Brenda has come full circle by returning to her community college and serving as a counselor for the Puente Project, which is the program that transformed her life. Puente’s mission is to increase the number of students from educationally underrepresented backgrounds who enroll in four-year colleges and universities, earn college degrees, and return to their community as future mentors and leaders.
She is deeply invested in personal and professional development and she continues to seek tools that help her stay grounded and connected to herself. Learning to show up authentically in all spaces is a goal she is currently working towards. This journey is not always easy, however, it is always worthwhile.
